David Colbreth Broderick (February 4, 1820 – September 16, 1859) was an attorney and politician, elected by the legislature as Democratic U.S. Senator from California. He lived in New York until moving to California during the Gold Rush .
In his book David C. Broderick: A Political Portrait, David A. Williams, professor of history at California State College at Long Beach, presents a very scholarly account of Broderick’s life. He makes extensive use of government documents, newspapers, diaries and manuscripts as well as secondary materials.
