Angie Motshekga is a South African politician and educator who served as the Minister of Basic Education from 2009 to 2024. She is also a former president of the ANC Women's League and the acting president of South Africa in 2021.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Ms Angie Motshekga to serve as Acting President on 17 August 2024. The appointment was made for his Working Visit to Harare, Zimbabwe, for the SADC Summit.

2. Juli 2021 · Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is in charge of the country as President Cyril Ramaphosa is in Zambia for a state funeral and Deputy President David Mabuza is in Russia for medical treatment. This is not the first time Motshekga has acted as president, as she did in 2019.
