Sadako Kujō (九条節子, Kujō Sadako, 25 June 1884 – 17 May 1951), posthumously honoured as Empress Teimei (貞明皇后, Teimei-kōgō), was the wife of Emperor Taishō and the mother of Emperor Shōwa of Japan.
Her Majesty the Empress Dowager (posthumously named Empress Teimei) passed away on May 17, 1951. A series of Imperial Funeral Ceremonies were conducted, including the Renso-no-Gi (Ceremony of the Funeral and Entombment) Ceremony, which took place on June 22. In fact, it was a State Funeral.

As an Empress, the Empress Teimei was the first Empress among successive Empresses who had an Imperial mausoleum built in the Kanto area. Additionally, the Empress Teimei was the first of the Imperial family to be interred by the Imperial House Act of the Constitution of Japan.
Empress Teimei (1884-1951) was the consort of the Japanese Emperor Taisho and mother of Emperor Hirohito. She donated large sums from her privy purse to the Kaishun Missionary Leprosy Hospital and also to the working people in the leprosaria to encourage them to continue their service to the leprosy patients.
