Silvio Micali is a visionary cryptographer who laid the complexity-theoretic foundations for the science of cryptography and pioneered new methods for efficient verification of mathematical proofs. He is known for his work with Shafi Goldwasser on probabilistic encryption, zero-knowledge proofs, and interactive proofs, among other contributions.
