Albrecht Kossel war ein deutscher Mediziner, Physiologe und Biochemiker. Er wurde 1910 mit dem Nobelpreis für Physiologie oder Medizin ausgezeichnet.
Albrecht Kossel is considered one of the great scientists of biochemistry and genetics. By isolating and defining nucleic acid and the nucleobases, he provided the necessary precursors that led to the double-helix model of DNA, devised by James D. Watson and Francis Crick in 1953.
Professor Albrecht Kossel war ein weltbedeutender Wissenschaftler. 1853 in Rostock geboren und aufgewachsen, studierte er in Straßburg und Rostock Medizin und wandte sich dann einem damals aufstrebenden Fach, der Physiologischen Chemie (Biochemie) zu.
Albrecht Kossel was a German biochemist who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1910 for his contributions to understanding the chemistry of nucleic acids and proteins. He discovered the nucleic acids that are the bases in the DNA molecule, the genetic substance of the cell.
