Caspar Bauhin (latinisiert Caspar Bauhinus) oder Gaspard Bauhin (* 17. Januar 1560 in Basel; † 5. Dezember 1624 ebenda) war ein Schweizer Mediziner, der zahlreiche Schriften über Anatomie, Botanik und Pharmakologie verfasste. Sein offizielles botanisches Autorenkürzel lautet „ C.Bauhin “.
Gaspard Bauhin or Caspar Bauhin (Latin: Casparus Bauhinus; 17 January 1560 – 5 December 1624), was a Swiss botanist whose Pinax theatri botanici (1623) described thousands of plants and classified them in a manner that draws comparisons to the later binomial nomenclature of Linnaeus.
Biographie. Als berühmtester Sproß des aus Frankreich stammenden Geschlechts begann B. schon 1576 seine Studien in Basel (unter → Felix Platter und → Theodor Zwinger), wo er nach Aufenthalten in Padua, Bologna, Montpellier und Paris 1581 promoviert wurde.

Caspar Bauhin wurde am 15. Januar 1560 in Basel geboren, wo er im Alter von 64 Jahren am 5. Dezember 1624 verstarb. Er entstammte einer angesehenen, protestantischen Medizinerfamilie aus der Picardie (Frankreich), deren Mitglieder in Paris hohe Ämter bekleideten.
