Santi di Tito (5 December 1536 – 25 July 1603) was one of the most influential and leading Italian painters of the proto-Baroque style – what is sometimes referred to as "Counter-Maniera" or Counter-Mannerism.

Naturally Santi di Tito's work looked out of context amongst the Mannerist productions of his contemporaries. He painted five lunettes for the Chiostro Grande, S. Maria Novella, between 1572 and 1582. There are altarpieces by him in several churches in Florence, including the 'Resurrection' (1568) and the 'Supper at Emmaus' (1574) in S. Croce ...
One of the most influential artists in sixteenth-century Florentine painting, Santi di Tito was a key figure in the transition between Mannerism and the Baroque. Santi undertook training in Florence under Agnolo Bronzino and then with Baccio Bandinelli.

His legacy includes altarpieces and frescoes for the Church and devotional paintings, mythological scenes, and portraits for private patrons. At his death in 1602, the Accademia considered him Florence's leading artist.
