Osman Yusuf Kenadid (Somali: Cusmaan Yuusuf Keenadiid; Arabic: عثمان يوسف كينيديد; 1889 – 14 August 1972) was a Somali poet, writer, teacher and ruler. Born in Ceel Huur in 1889, he went on to create the Osmanya alphabet for writing Somali .
The Osmanya alphabet was created in between 1920 and 1922 by Osman Yusuf Kenadid (Cusmaan Yuusuf Keenadiid / عثمان يوسف), brother of the Sultan of Obbia. In Somali it is known as farta cismaanya / ҍҖ҇҂Җ ҋҘ҈ґқҒҕҖ (Somali writing) or Far Soomaali / ҍҖ҇ Ҙҝ҈ґқҘ (Somali writing).

Yusuf Ali Kenadid (Somali: Yuusuf Cali Keenadiid; 1837 – 14 August 1911) [1] was a Somali Sultan and the founder of the Sultanate of Hobyo. He was succeeded to the throne by his son Ali Yusuf Kenadid. [2]
It was invented by Osman Yusuf Kenadid, the son of Sultan Yusuf Ali Kenadid and brother of Sultan Ali Yusuf Kenadid of the Sultanate of Hobyo. [3]
