Swarnakumari Devi (1855 or 1856 – 1932), also known as Swarnakumari Tagore, Swarnakumari Ghosal, Svarṇakumārī Debī and Srimati Svarna Kumari Devi, was an Indian Bengali writer, editor, essayist, poet, novelist, playwright, composer, and social worker.
Swarnakumari Devi was the elder sister of Rabindranath Tagore and a prominent writer, editor, and social worker in Bengal. She wrote novels, poems, plays, and essays, and participated in the Indian National Congress and the Ladies' Theosophical Society.

Swarnakumari Devi. - May 27, 2022. Swarnakumari Devi, the elder sister of Rabindranath Tagore, was born on 28 August, 1855. Primarily educated at home and then married to the well-educated Janakinath Ghoshal in 1868, she published her first novel eight years after her marriage.
Swarnakumari Devi raised her voice in defence of women through her writings. During her lifetime, her novels were as popular as those of Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay, the most eminent litterateur of his time.
