Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, genannt Auguste Bartholdi (* 2. August 1834 in Colmar; † 4. Oktober 1904 in Paris) war ein französischer Bildhauer. Bartholdis bekanntestes Werk ist die Freiheitsstatue auf Liberty Island, New York, die ursprünglich noch Bartholdi-Statue hieß.

Bartholdi trained to be an architect in Alsace and Paris and then studied painting with Ary Scheffer and sculpture with Antoine Etex and Jean François Soitoux.

The copper statue, a gift to the U.S. from the people of France, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue is a figure of Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty.
