1992 bastelten Trey Parker und Matt Stone, die damals noch Studenten der Universität Colorado waren, den ersten Teil von The Spirit of Christmas namens Jesus Vs. Frosty. Für den Film standen ihnen nur Papier, Klebstoff und eine sehr alte 8-mm-Kamera zur Verfügung. Premiere des kurzen Streifens war Dezember 1992 beim Student Film Screening.
1. Dez. 1992 · When the children go to Santa for help, he is revealed to be a monster in disguise, and slaughters another one of the kids. The two survivors approach the baby Jesus, who takes on the evil snowman and wins, saving Christmas.

In 1992, Trey Parker and Matt Stone made The Spirit of Christmas (aka Jesus vs. Frosty) while they were students at the University of Colorado. After seeing the Jesus vs. Frosty film in 1995, Fox executive Brian Graden paid Stone and Parker to make another animated short as a video Christmas card that he could send to friends.
