Arthur Elias (November 24, 1925 - April 12, 2018) was born in McKeesport, PA. Elias served in both Europe and the Philippines during World War II. Following the war, he completed his BFA degree at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University) in 1949 and his MA degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 1950, where he wrote a thesis entitled:
