The city of Brunswick is located in southeastern Georgia, approximately halfway between Jacksonville, Florida and Savannah. The city is located at the apex of the Georgia Bight, the westernmost point on the Atlantic seaboard, and is naturally sheltered by two barrier islands, Jekyll and St. Simons.
The recorded History of Brunswick, Georgia dates to 1738, when a 1,000-acre (4 km 2) plantation was established along the Turtle River. By 1789, the city was recognized by President George Washington as having been one of five original ports of entry for the American colonies. [citation needed]

21. Mai 2024 · Brunswick, founded in 1771 by Georgia’s Royal Provincial Colonial Council, was named for the ancestral home in Germany of England’s then-reigning house of Hanover. During the American Civil War the city was evacuated in 1862, but it was reoccupied the following year by the Confederates, who repulsed the only Union attack on it.

Brunswick is a city in Coastal Georgia just north of Florida, the mainland gateway to several islands in the Intracoastal Waterway, including St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island .
