David Hare (* 5. Juni 1947 in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex) ist ein britischer Dramatiker, Drehbuchautor und Regisseur .
He was Resident Dramatist at the Royal Court Theatre, London, from 1970 to 1971, and in 1973 became resident dramatist at the Nottingham Playhouse. He co-founded the Joint Stock Theatre Company with David Aukin and Max Stafford-Clark in 1975.

David Hare is an English playwright, screenwriter, and director. Born and raised in Sussex, he attended Jesus College at Cambridge where he became a member of the Cambridge University Amateur Dramatic Club.
Hare was Resident Dramatist at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 1970-1 and Resident Dramatist at the Nottingham Playhouse in 1973. 1975 Co-founded Joint Stock Theatre Group with David Aukin and Max Stafford-Clark, for whom he adapted Fanshen , which won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize.
