Dame Janet Elizabeth Ritterman DBE FRSA (born 1 December 1941) is the Australian-educated former Director of the Royal College of Music in London, from 1993 to 2005.
In 2013, Middlesex University was proud to hold the inauguration of our third Chancellor Dame Janet Ritterman. Janet is an eminent pianist, accompanist and academic, who was appointed DBE for her services to music in 2002 Queen's Birthday Honours.
Much of Dame Janet Ritterman’s professional career has been in higher education, first at Middlesex Polytechnic (now Middlesex University), then at Goldsmiths (University of London) and from 1987 at Dartington College of Arts, initially as Head of Music and latterly as Principal.

Dame Janet Ritterman is Chancellor of Middlesex University. A prominent academic and musician, she has a global reputation as a champion of the arts, who helped to develop the UK’s first performing arts degree programme whilst at Middlesex.

16. Nov. 2016 · The Chancellor of Middlesex University, Dame Janet Ritterman, has been awarded one of the highest honours in Austria for her significant contribution to science and the arts. Frank Sinatra received the same honour in 1984.
