The couple married December 8, 2021. It is the second marriage for each of them. Guthrie had met Ladd 20 years earlier when he went to Woodstock, New York with his wife Jackie to do a film. They were put up at The Wild Rose Inn, where Ladd was the owner/operator. In September 2016, Ladd sold the Inn and moved in with Guthrie.
Arlo Guthrie and his wife Jackie Hyde were married for 43 years until her death due to liver cancer in 2012. All his children—son Abe Guthrie and daughters Annie, Sarah Lee Guthrie, and Cathy Guthrie—are musicians.
Arlo married Jackie Hyde in October 1969, and over the following decade they had four children, all of whom have become entertainers/musicians themselves. The Guthrie Family has toured together throughout the years, most notably for the 2012 Guthrie Family Reunion Tour , honoring the centennial of Woody Guthrie’s birth.
