  2. 6. Nov. 2023 · British Steel announces plans to shut down the last two working blast furnaces at its Scunthorpe plant, affecting up to 2,000 workers. The company says it will invest £1.25bn in two new electric arc furnaces, one in Scunthorpe and one in Teesside, by late 2025.

The primary steel production site is Scunthorpe Steelworks, with rolling facilities at Skinningrove Steelworks, Teesside.
