James Edward Rice (born March 8, 1953) is an American former professional baseball left fielder and designated hitter who played in Major League Baseball (MLB). Rice played his entire 16-year MLB career for the Boston Red Sox. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009 .

Jim Rice (born July 10, 1947) is an American former professional motorcycle racer who is an inductee of both the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame and the TrailBlazers Hall of Fame. During his career in the late 1960s and early 1970s he won 12 national races and finished in the top 10 of the championship three times. [2]
Jim Rice was a leading AMA Grand National racer of the 1960s and early ‘70s. During his short six-year professional racing career, Rice scored 12 AMA national wins. He won on mile, half-mile and TT circuits. All but one of his victories came on BSA motorcycles. Rice was a championship contender for most of his career.
It took one of the greatest offensive seasons in American League history to earn Jim Rice the Most Valuable Player Award in 1978. On Nov. 7, 1978, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America announced that the Red Sox slugging outfielder had won the AL MVP, earning 20 first-place votes compared to eight for runner-up Ron Guidry of the Yankees.
An eight-time all-star, Rice finished among the Top 5 in AL MVP voting in six seasons and won two AL Silver Slugger Awards. Defensively, Rice ranked in the Top 5 among AL left fielders in assists 11 times and putouts seven times. Rice was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2009. Read more.
