Lowell Thomas George (April 13, 1945 – June 29, 1979) was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer, who was the primary guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and founder/leader for the rock band Little Feat.
Lowell George met Bill Payne when George was a member of Frank Zappa 's Mothers of Invention. They formed Little Feat in 1969 along with former Mothers' bassist Roy Estrada and drummer Richie Hayward from George's previous band, The Factory.
