Nathaniel Newton (born December 20, 1961) is an American former professional football player who was a guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. He also was a member of the Tampa Bay Bandits of the United States Football League (USFL).

Nate Newton (born October 9, 1975) is an American musician. He is the bassist and backing vocalist of the hardcore punk band Converge and the rock band Cave In and is the guitarist and singer in Old Man Gloom and Doomriders. Newton has also been a guitarist and vocalist in Jesuit and bassist in Cavalera Conspiracy.
While recording their landmark fourth album Jane Doe in 2001, the group became a four-piece with the departure of guitarist Aaron Dalbec and the addition of bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller. This lineup has remained intact since.
This is the band's first album with bassist/backing vocalist Nate Newton, though late bassist/vocalist Caleb Scofield still has a presence on the record.
