The autumn semester usually starts in September and the spring semester starts in January. This page shows the official semester dates, breaks, and public holidays. The academic year in Sweden is divided into two semesters, each lasting 20 weeks. Autumn 2023: 28 August – 14 January. Spring 2024: 15 January – 2 June.
Semester dates. At the University of Gothenburg, official dates are set for the autumn and spring semesters, but not for summer courses. Always check your schedule, some courses may start or end outside the official semester dates.
Schedule. No later than two weeks before the start of the course, you must have access to your schedule for the course. You can search for your schedule in the university booking system, TimeEdit.
