Re: Electrolytic capacitor brands question. « Reply #2 on: September 16, 2022, 05:50:00 am ». Those assortments might be ok for a quick test but they're mostly of dubious quality. Personally I like Nichicon, Rubycon and Panasonic although there are others.
I've searched the web, and some people wrote that Jamicons were reliable for filtering, but not in computer motherboards. I trust AK more than anybody, so I wonder if some of you had some BAD experience with some of this caps. I'm restoring a tube console, I need some 33 and 16 uF, 400 and 450 Volt.
A huge number of electros are clearly coming from Chinese factories, particularly the flood of fakes. In my opinion, the fake capacitors are one of the biggest contributors to the overall failures on cheap gear (not so much HiFi, but consumer electronics in general).
