Smell the Magic is the second studio album by American rock band L7, released in 1990 by Sub Pop. Originally issued as a 12" EP containing only the first six songs, it was reissued on CD in July 1991, expanded to album length with three more tracks: "Packin' a Rod," "Just Like Me," and "American Society."

Most under-rated band of the era – says Ged Babey. For me, personally, L7 were THE band of THEIR era. The ‘Grunge Years’ for want of a better name.
Smell the Magic. Sub Pop. Released. 1990. With what in retrospect would be the classic lineup of the band now set, L7 took a label detour from Epitaph to Sub Pop for their second release Smell The Magic, a six song EP given an expanded CD version including some covers.
