"I Only Want to Be with You" is a song written by Mike Hawker and Ivor Raymonde. The debut solo single released by British singer Dusty Springfield under her long-time producer Johnny Franz, "I Only Want to Be with You" peaked at number 4 on the UK Singles chart in January 1964.
13. Juli 2012 · Her first hit “I Only Want to Be With You” (1964), made her the second British act after The Beatles to score a stateside pop hit. Like most pop stars of the time, Dusty was also a guest on The Ed Sullivan Show; appearing a total of 3 times on the show.
"I Only Want to Be With You" launched Dusty's Hall of Fame career, and became the first hit by a British artist since The Beatles started their run. Springfield was 24 when the song was released. This song is about a girl who has finally found the guy of her dreams - or at least she thinks so.
