The Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (German Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden), often abbreviated HfBK Dresden or simply HfBK, is a vocational university of visual arts located in Dresden, Germany.
With a history of over 250 years, the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts is one of the oldest training institutions for fine arts in Europe. It was founded by the Wettins as the “Haupt-Kunst-Akademie” (Main Art Academy) in 1764.
The Fine Arts study programme provides students with the opportunity to gain basic experience and skills from the diversity of contemporary art in order to pursue their own artistic path. The need for the 10-semester course of study at the HfBK Dresden results, above all, from the complex discussion that takes place between teachers and students.
7. Aug. 2020 · Academy of Arts. The ornately decorated complex of buildings was called the "Lipsiusbau" after its creator, Professor of Architecture Constantin Lipsius. It was built between 1891 an 1894 on the Brühl Terrace in the style of the Neo-Renaissance.
