Kristiansand is a city and municipality in Agder county, Norway. The city is the fifth-largest and the municipality is the sixth-largest in Norway, with a population of around 116,000 as of January 2020, following the incorporation of the municipalities of Søgne and Songdalen into the greater Kristiansand municipality.
Kristiansand (inntil 1877: Christian(s)sand) er en by og en kommune i Agder fylke. Kommunen er Norges sjette største etter folketall og hadde 116 986 innbyggere pr 1. januar 2024. Tettstedet Kristiansand hadde 66 576 innbyggere per 1. januar 2023. Byen er oppkalt etter Christian IV av Danmark-Norge.
Agder is a county (fylke) and traditional region in the southern part of Norway and is coextensive with the Southern Norway region. The county was established on 1 January 2020, when the old Vest-Agder and Aust-Agder counties were merged.
