Jay Friedman (born April 11, 1939) is principal trombone for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Friedman joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1962. [1] When appointed principal in 1964, he was the youngest brass player to take the first chair in a major orchestra.
Jay Friedman is a trombonist, composer and conductor who has been a member of the CSO since 1962. He has performed as a soloist with the CSO and other orchestras, and has conducted works by Mahler, Bruckner, Sibelius and Wagner.
