For other uses, see Wikipedia:CE (disambiguation). Discovering that pages need basic copyediting, i.e. correcting for grammar, spelling, readability, or layout, may surprise new visitors to Wikipedia, but this is the "encyclopedia that anyone can edit": it is not perfect yet!
Copy editing is the process of making improvements to an article—correcting spelling and improving grammar, sentence structure, style and flow to make it clear, correct, concise, comprehensible, and consistent; and make it say what it means and mean what it says. In Wikipedia, we follow the guidelines in the Manual of Style (MoS).
Wikitext editing using the Source Editor is chosen by clicking the Edit source tab at the top of a Wikipedia page (or on a section-edit link ). This opens an editable copy of the page, showing all the wikitext used there, and the Source Editor toolbar offers simple menu options to add or change the formatting.
