Madokoro Akutagawa Saori (芥川 (間所) 紗織, Akutagawa (Madokoro) Saori, 1924–31 January 1966) was a Japanese painter whose works were often associated with primitivism, folkloric and mythological subjects, as well as unique dyeing techniques.
Nonaka-Hill is pleased to present Saori (Madokoro) Akutagawa (1924 – 1966), a Centennial celebration of the artist’s birth, marking her first solo exhibition in the United States, spanning an extensive and multi-faceted career from 1955 - 1966. The exhibition opens February 24th and will be on view through April 20, 2024.
Yasushi Akutagawa (芥川 也寸志, Akutagawa Yasushi, July 12, 1925 – January 31, 1989) was a Japanese composer and conductor. His father was Ryūnosuke Akutagawa.
