Xi Jinping ( / ˈʃiː dʒɪnˈpɪŋ /, or often / ˈʒiː /; Chinese: 习近平; pinyin: Xí Jìnpíng, pronounced [ɕǐ tɕîn.pʰǐŋ]; [a] born 15 June 1953) is a Chinese politician who has been the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and thus the paramount leader of China, since 2012.
Prof. Dr. Xi Zhang, received his B.S. degree (1986) and Ph.D (1992) in the Department of Chemistry, Jilin University. As a joint-training Ph.D student, he worked with Prof. Helmut Ringsdorf, University of Mainz, Germany, between 1991 and 1992. He became a full professor of Jilin University in 1994.
