Rolls-Royce agreed with Airbus to supply a new variant of the Trent turbofan engine for the A350 XWB, named Trent XWB. In 2010, after low-speed wind tunnel tests, Airbus finalised the static thrust at sea level for all three proposed variants to the 74,000–94,000 lbf (330–420 kN) range.

The A350-1000 is powered by the world’s most efficient large aero-engine, the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 turbofans. Nowhere is Airbus innovation more apparent than in the A350’s airframe, which is built with carbon-fibre reinforced plastic and other advanced materials.
The A350 Family is a widebody aircraft with a clean-sheet design that offers lower operating costs, fuel burn and emissions than its competitors. It features the Trent XWB engines and a commonality with the A330neo.
The A350 XWB engine benefits from an entirely new design that notably delivers the lowest Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC) of any large aero-engine in commercial aviation today, directly contributing to lower fuel burn at aircraft level.
The A350-900ULR is a new variant of the A350 XWB Family with an extended range of up to 9,700 nautical miles. It can fly non-stop for over 20 hours and offers high levels of passenger and crew comfort and efficiency.
