13. Feb. 2024 · With its vote on Feb. 13, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents authorized the University of Georgia to establish a new independent School of Medicine in Athens.

Applications for the Medical College of Georgia's Class of 2029 officially open through AMCAS on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 and submission begins on May 28, 2024. Applications will be processed in the AMCAS office then forwarded to the medical school (s) of the applicant’s choice.
