9. Dez. 2010 · In conversation, the 'night' of which 'midnight' is in the middle, is considered the night of the date mentioned. If you are referring to a deadline, this also will refer to the stroke of 12 after the evening of the same date. Example: The paper is due by Friday at midnight. Should not be confusing to anyone.

28. Aug. 2014 · As others have specified, the word by is generally synonymous with no later than when referring to a date or time. However, it is important to note (and this is why I am adding another answer) that if all you know is "The work must be completed by MM-DD-YYYY", then the exact due date is still ambiguous .
1. AS OF would mean "at a certain time onward". AS AT would mean "at a precise time of event". AS FROM would mean "at a certain time onward" just like AS OF, but I still don't quite get it. That leads me to go back and use SINCE. Much simpler and people use it in writings and speeches.
