Multiple-gunshot suicide occurs when an individual commits suicide by inflicting multiple gunshots on themself before becoming incapacitated. It excludes suicides where the firearms are operated by other people, such as suicide by cop .
Ronnie McNutt (May 23, 1987 – August 31, 2020) was a 33-year-old American man and US Army Reserve veteran from New Albany, Mississippi, who committed suicide by shooting himself under his chin on a Facebook livestream, which went viral on various social media platforms due to its inherent shock value.

Based on data gathered by the CDC, in 2020, the rate of suicide in the US population was 13 per 100,000, far more frequent in men (21 per 100,000) than in women (5.4 per 100,000).
