Ottis Toole starb am 15. September 1996 im Gefängnis an Krebs. Henry Lee Lucas folgte ihm am 13. März 2001. Jahre nach dem Tod von Toole konnte diesem noch der Mord an dem kleinen Adam Walsh nachgewiesen werden. Der 6jährige Adam verschwand 1981 aus einem Einkaufszentrum in Hollywood.
