REM's Dead Letter Office album includes multiple covers The Feelies just releases a live album of Velvets music. They definitely sound like the Velvet Underground at times in their stuff and iirc toured with Lou Reed at one point. Ulrika Spacek might be a good choice for you. They covered Lady Godiva's Operation well.
Vor 6 Tagen · The Velvet Underground and Nico - Essentially the 'art' album, but contains a ridiculous number of styles, some songs are extremely progressive for a 1967 release and despite being a technically-limited production it comes across as a very polished 'product', it's a very confident debut and largely deserves its place in the classic albums list.
