Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg blühte die Uni förmlich auf und förderte vor allem die Wirtschaft im nahe liegenden Silicon Valley. Von 1992 bis 2000 gab es auch einen aus Deutschland stammenden Hochschulpräsidenten. Bis heute gehört Stanford zu den renommiertesten Hochschulen weltweit.
