  3. Hayward was born in Caversham, Berkshire, on 26 October 1959, brought up near Romsey, Hampshire, and attended Bishop Wordsworth's School, Salisbury, from 1971 to 1978. He trained as a journalist at the London College of Printing (now the London College of Communication, University of the Arts) (1978-80) and won its 1979–80 Journalism Prize.

It was originally known as The Bishop's School when it was founded by the Bishop of Salisbury in 1890. Girls have been welcomed into the sixth form since 2020. The school occupies a unique position in Salisbury’s iconic medieval Cathedral Close.

  7. 20. Juli 2023 · The Bishop’s School was founded in 1890, by John Wordsworth, the Bishop of Salisbury. After his death, the school was renamed Bishop Wordsworth’s School and remains known as such, to this day.
