Edmunds made his first solo album, Rockpile, to capitalize on his worldwide smash single, a one-man remake of “I Hear You Knockin’,” the classic Dave Bartholomew number from the mid-’50s. This LP established the boundaries of the first phase of his solo career: a Chuck Berry tune, a Willie Dixon blues, a country stomp (by Neil Young, no less) and so on.
Rockpile [1] [2] was een Britse rockband uit de late jaren 1970 en vroege jaren 1980, bekend om hun sterke pubrock, rockabilly en powerpop invloeden, en als een fundamentele invloed op new wave. Dave Edmunds. David William Edmunds (born 15 April 1944) [2] is a Welsh singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer. Although he is mainly associated with pub rock and new wave, having many hits in the 1970s and early 1980s, his natural leaning has always been towards 1950s-style rock and roll and rockabilly. [3]
The album would also be the last Edmunds solo effort to feature Rockpile. Twangin... consists mostly of outtakes from previous recording sessions, including one track dating to 1968, a version of "Baby Let's Play House", a rockabilly number made famous by Elvis Presley.
