In 1990, Perry Bamonte, who had been part of The Cure's road crew since 1984 and had been Robert's guitar technician and personal assistant ever since, was promoted to full member of the band and played keyboards as well as guitar regularly. Porl Thompson left The Cure shortly after the 1992 Wish Tour to spend more time with his young children.
