4. Juni 2010 · I say this having enjoyed his 1st album MARK FARNER, but this does settle in with the 3 piece power trio format that Farner enjoys the most. In fact, NO FRILLS is a precurser to the supposed GFR reunion disc GRAND FUNK LIVES released 3 years later...Another great album released at a bad time in rock n' roll history as disco and glam rock were the mainstays of the time.

No Frills, Mark Farner's second solo release after the Grand Funk breakup is more of an indication of what Grand Funk would have sounded like in 1979. The Mark Farner album previously did not have the heavier riffage going on here, even though both albums are mixed for radio consumption.

Etter at Grand Funk først vart oppløyst i 1976, gav Farner ut det første soloalbumet sitt i 1977. Det andre, No Frills, kom i 1978. I 1981 gjekk Farner og Don Brewer i lag med ein ny Grand Funk-besetning og spelte inn to album, Grand Funk Lives og What's Funk?. Farner gjekk solo igjen i 1988 med Just Another Injustice.
