Occidental College. Occidental College is a small college in Los Angeles, California. Several famous people, such as Barack Obama, have attended the college. Its name comes from the Latin for "western". The college was started in 1887 and moved to where it is now in 1914. Many of its early buildings were designed by Myron Hunt.

Occidental College has an acceptance rate of 39%. Half the applicants admitted to Occidental College who submitted test scores have an SAT score between 1360 and 1510 or an ACT score of 31 and 34.
Campus Visits are held most weekdays, and Saturdays in April and October, and include both an information session and guided tour. Information sessions last 30 minutes and are led by an Admission Officer, providing an overview of academic life at Oxy and an introduction to the application and financial aid process.
