Rand Afrikaans University. Coordinates: 26°11′05″S 27°59′51″E. The Rand Afrikaans University (Afrikaans: Randse Afrikaanse Universiteit) was a prominent South African institution of higher education and research that served the greater Johannesburg area and surroundings from 1967 to 2004.
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is a public university located in Johannesburg, South Africa. The University of Johannesburg came into existence on 1 January 2005 as the result of a merger between the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), the Technikon Witwatersrand (TWR) and the Soweto and East Rand campuses of Vista University.
The University of Johannesburg was formed as a result of the merger between the former Technikon Witwatersrand, Vista University and Rand Afrikaans University on 1st January 2005. The University consists of a number of faculties and has four campuses in and around Johannesburg with a diverse and multi-cultural community.
