Eddie Phillips was the lead guitarist in The Creation, the band from whom Creation Records gained not only a name but many of its musical influences. Intially known as The Mark Four, The Creation were hugely influential in their day, inspiring such groups as The Who and Led Zeppelin. We caught up with Eddie recently.
28. Apr. 2017 · The Creation was formed in 1966 from beat combo The Mark Four, and was quickly signed to a production deal with Shel Talmy, The Who’s producer. The first release was the urgent “Making Time”, which featured guitarist Eddie Phillips playing his guitar with a violin bow, two years before Jimmy Page started doing so.
Painter Man. " Painter Man " is a song written by British singer Kenny Pickett and guitarist Eddie Phillips, and first recorded by their group the Creation. It was released as a single in October 1966. Written as a response to their avant-garde stage show, the single was their only top-forty hit on the UK Singles Chart, reaching number 36.
