The Avett Brothers / ˈ eɪ v ɪ t / are an American folk rock band from Concord, North Carolina. The band is made up of two brothers, Scott Avett ( banjo , lead vocals, guitar, piano, kick-drum) and Seth Avett ( guitar , lead vocals, piano, hi-hat) along with Bob Crawford ( double bass , electric bass, violin, backing vocals) and Joe Kwon ( cello , backing vocals).
The band's first of many live albums, Live at the Double Door Inn, saw release in 2002. They were incorporating electric guitar and more prominent drums by 2007's Emotionalism, their fifth studio LP and first to crack the Billboard 200. Since 1973, the Double Door Inn hosted some of the best and most famous musicians. Its moniker was “Charlotte’s Home Of The Blues,” but the Double Door was home to music of all genres. The Double Door was originally built as a home in 1914 and parts of the original structure, including the fireplace, were visible.
