Jacqueline ”Jackie” Joyner-Kersee (o.s. At the Olympic Games in Seoul, Joyner-Kersee won the gold by beating Wilhelmina by 76 points. Five days later, she earned a second gold medal in the long jump with a fifth-round leap of 7.40m. A jump right to the podium. Joyner-Kersee easily won the heptathlon again at the 1992 Games in Barcelona. In the long jump, she gained a bronze medal.
Joyner-Kersee married her coach, Bob Kersee. Her brother, Al Joyner , won the 1984 Olympic triple jump gold medal, and her sister-in-law was the great sprinter Florence Griffith Joyner. Since her retirement from competition, JJK has devoted herself to charitable works through both the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation and Athletes for Hope.
