From here, “Wander Darkly” becomes a surreal, almost sci-fi film. Adrienne leaves her body, seeing herself die in a hospital and even attending her own funeral, where Matteo speaks emotionally about his love for her. Naturally, she thinks she’s dead, but then Matteo starts trying to convince her otherwise.
WANDER DARKLY is a beautifully filmed rumination on death, the afterlife & processing trauma featuring two soul crushing performances from Sienna Miller & Diego Luna. Takes aspects of ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, INCEPTION & A GHOST STORY even though it doesn’t always work. Script can be a bit on the nose, repetitive & predictable but I can’t deny that it was incredibly moving.
