15. Juli 2021 · The Erechtheion was part of Pericles’ plan for rebuilding after the Persian attack, but the project was postponed after the outbreak of the Peloponnesian Wars. Work did not start until 421 BC, eight years after his death, and was completed around 406 BC. The Erechtheion is a distinctive building whose large columns are statues depicting women.
Erechtheion While the Parthenon was the most impressive temple on the Acropolis, another building, the Erechtheion was built to accommodate the religious rituals that the old temple housed. Construction of the Erechtheion began in 420 while the Peloponnesian war was interrupted by the Peace of Nikias and continued through some of the most difficult times for the Athenians at war.

Erechtheion alebo Erechteion je chrám na aténskej Akropole. Postavili ho v rokoch 421 – 407 pred Kr. v iónskom slohu z pentelského mramoru. Jeho architektovi, pravdepodobne Mnésiklovi , sa podarilo vyriešiť ťažký problém, vyplývajúci z nerovnosti terénu a množstvom uctievaných božstiev na Akropole .
