24. Okt. 2010 · Joseph Stein. Biography: Joseph Stein was born in the Bronx on May 30, 1912 to Charles Stein and Emma Rosenblum. He earned a master's degree in social work from Columbia University in 1937 and had a career in the field until he met performer Zero Mostel through a mutual friend. His first marriage to Sadie Singer ended with her death in 1974.
Joseph Stein (1912-2020) won the Tony Award and Drama Critics Circle Award for Fiddler on the Roof. His other musicals include Zorba! (Tony nom., Drama Critics Circle Award), Rags (Tony nom.), The Baker’s Wife (Laurence Olivier Award, London), June, Take Me Along, Irene (starring Debbie Reynolds), The King of Hearts, and So Long, 174th Street.
