Incidentally, another work dating from 1966, Herrmann's Echoes for String Quartet, did make it to the stage. This music was used for a ballet entitled Ante Room and was first performed by the Royal Ballet Touring Company at Sadler's Wells Theatre, London, on June 9, 1971, with Herrmann in the audience.
